Frequently Asked Questions What is The Memory Academy Teacher Training program? The Teacher Training progam for The Memory Academy covers each of the twelve lessons of the Session One Curriculum that combine practical knowledge and training in all important aspects of memory, aging and the brain in an accessible, inexpensive,one stop educational program for seniors. It aims for comprehensive and synthesis in its coverage of aging and proven methods of coping with its effects on physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. How are the Teacher Trainings offered? The Teacher Training sessions are available in an eight hour one day format ($175 per person) or a two-day five hour format ($195) for credentialed teachers, (plus all traveled expenses for the trainer if not at our Castro Valley location). There is a 10 person minimum for the trainings. (prices and conditions subject to change). For those without a teaching credential, a Leader's Guide will soon be available that covers all of the topics and activities without the details required for the Adult Education system. What is involved in the training? The complete, coprighted 12-week Session One Curriculum, with all lesson plans, lectures, research and handouts will be included in the Training Manual provided at the training session. The complete curriculum is also available on CD. The training sessions will review each lesson in-depth to insure complete understanding of all activities. Three months of email mentoring will be made available to answer questions, help with problem solving, and provide the latest research updates to share with classes for a small additional fee ($25 for three months per person). It will be necessary for training participants to sign an intellectual property agreement honoring all copyrights. Will you be a "certified" Memory Academy teacher? The training is not a certification program. It demonstrates what to teach and techniques to teach it. It does not train you in the art of teaching. Reaching and nurturing students in learning and growing is a multilevel undertaking.
