THE MEMORY ACADEMY GOES BI-COASTAL

three classes offered by some of those trained there.

Starting in June 2011, Susan Kraughto, a respected and much
loved Memory Academy teacher will be teaching the program for
the Roanoke, Virginia Recreation Department.

The University of New Mexico through Osher Lifelong Learning.
LOOKING FOR PARTNERSHIPS
To all those who realize the importance and value of providing opportunities for Older Adults
to learn how to stay strong, sharp and independent. To all those who understand that this
information should not be only for those who can afford it, but also available to all those
in the second half of life, we make this request. Due to the budgetcuts with the School Districts
and Recreation Departments, the fees for classes for our Older Adults
have risen sharply. We are looking to foster partnerships with local agencies and organizations
who would be able to co-sponsor some of our classes. We are hoping for co-sponsors
for one or more classes, for one or more semesters.
Please contact us at thememoryacademy@aol.com if you or your organization can enable
more students to learn how to Age With Power.
The Memory Academy: To keep you growing for life.
(see "class schedule" section for details)
In this original and cutting edge program you will learn interesting facts about
yourself as you age. You will workout all parts of the brain and different
types of memory. Utilizing the latest research, we challenge
minds and bodies to keep sharp and strong while maintaining
health and independence, and meet some incredible people in the process!
In Session One you will learn the good news about your aging brain and
how to adapt to the changes that normally come with age using various
memory techniques and activities . You will become empowered to address
the many reversible causes of memory problems.
In Session Two you will learn how nutrition effects brain health and you will create
a great resource of nutritional information. Each class gives the total brain a workout,
and the added challenge of mastering the basics of Sudoku.
Every class will incorporate physical exercise which will strengthen our bodies
with weight training, aerobics, balance and posture improvement, and include
relaxation and breathing techniques because of their proven benefits to brain health.
